How We Work
A yearly cycle with three phases
1
The Strategic Assembly
At the start of each year, all assemblypeople gather to select the top four policy areas The Wasatch Assembly will focus on. This process is similar to a caucus but employs rank choice voting. The event takes two to three hours.
One day
2
The Policy Assembly
Members who participated in The Strategic Assembly can apply to the second phase. The Policy Assembly is where the selected policy areas are developed into local applicable policies. The assemblypeople voted via rank choice to determine top policies to pursue.
Two Months - Weekly
3
The Action Assembly
We then begin to lobby for the four voted policy areas at the city and county level. The lobby session are broken into 2.5 month block named winter, spring, summer, and fall. Each block focuses on one policy area.
